All my DeluxeVille readers will remember that I recently had my counter tops replaced with that very cool 50's boomerang laminate....now I'm trying to decide on tile color. I must say, I absolutely LOVE dal-tile for all their fabulous retro color choices! I'm fairly sure I'm gonna go with the yellow moonbeam and mint tiles from their keystones and natural hues lines. I'll have to check to make sure I can mix lines like that? But my dilemma is , which color should I use for a liner?? Black or Gray?? What do you think DeluxeVille readers?? Below are two versions laid out in the pattern that I think I'll use.... Your thoughts, suggestions, ideas?????
My Wall Color is this kiwi greenBLACK
GRAY
My Wall Color is this kiwi green
Edit: I removed bottom liner tile next to counter top...I just don't have the room for it...
I kind like the "punch" that the black provides, what a great color scheme! Jealous of your "retro renovation" - we've got to do the Hacienda kitchen over soon, you're an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteyeah, I think I'm leaning that way too...I like the contrast.
ReplyDeleteWe've got coral boomerang in our fifties kitchen. Still to be painted, it was left a mint green, coral and yellow. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI really would have loved a pink kitchen or red but will not remove the original boomerang countertops. What to do, what to do?
I like the gray, but I just like gray. I really like those countertops as well. Did you follow the directions from retrorenovation for the metal banding? Or did you go a different route to get it done?
ReplyDeleteI would prefer the black normally but I think the countertops want the grey. That's what they told me, anyway.
ReplyDeleteYes, I listen to countertops, at least the ones with decent taste.
I like the black best, both are pretty, but ya, black is prettier. :O)
ReplyDeleteLove the grey!
ReplyDeleteI think that you should get some samples and put them up on the wall (double sided tape or whatever) to see how you feel. Just looking at everything you have here, my response is "black". Those stainless steel appliances are "strong" elements in your kitchen... and they have black trim. I think that the gray accent tiles will not "pop", but that black will.
ReplyDeleteAll that said, these kinds of decisions are VERY personal -- as colors are "wavelengths" that speak to you individually. You gotta put up some samples, stand back, squint, and imagine living with it for the next ten years....
i have to go with the black.
ReplyDeletethe stainless steel appliances you have and your counter top are fantastic! :-)
My vote is for black. Much more impact. It makes the other colours look richer.
ReplyDeleteHappy Renovating! Looks great!

I am also going to say go with the black !
ReplyDeleteThe grey is pretty, but the black really makes the colors pop.
ReplyDeleteBLACK! the grey is just a bit too muted, it actually washes the other colors out.

I had a light, dove gray tile in my last kitchen and absolutely loved it.
ReplyDeletei like the black...it really makes a statement. the gray is too blah!
