People Who Inspire Me.....

Hiya All! Busy, busy,busy here and one more week of grad class to go! Woohoo! I still haven't gotten close to finishing my kitchen back splash...Boo...who knew finding a way to cut glass tile was going to be so difficult? Lets just say I'm having a learning experience. Eventually it will get done and I will give ya'll a look see! But until then, I wanted to take a moment and do some random posts about people who inspire me in my life. I hope they inspire you too!

My Flickr friend: Mr and Mrs Atomic

Not only are they the cutest couple but they also happen to have some mad cool style! I met Mrs Atomic over on Flickr quite a few years ago. I lusted over her things and she lusted over mine....it was just meant to be that we should run across each other online. She's my west coast sister from another mother! I mean look what she has tattooed on her wrist...yes, that's right, that's my lamp Mr Sparkles...and yes, I name my lamps, so what! Mrs. Atomic loved my lamp so much she went out and found her very own, but in black. I promise Mrs. Atomic I will leave you Mr Sparkles in my will...that is if you can pry him outta my cold dead hands!

Wait, I haven't told you all one of the best things about Mr. and Mrs Atomic...they live in an Eichler...with a pool!! Here's a little story about how they came about getting their hands on their mid-century dream.... To Alluring to Fail. Dreams are possible!! Below are a few pics of their mid-century Eichler....I wonder if they have a guest room??

And.....If their house and all their cool mid-century pieces wasn't enough, something else I love about Mr. and Mrs. Atomic.... they go on the best kitschy roadside trips and take lots of drool worthy pictures! Texas, Palm Springs, Yellow Stone, Arizona....ya just never know where these two might pop up.. so keep your eyes peeled!

Still cleaning out my closet! Decided to try Etsy this time! It's so hot around here and no one wants to be outside, so I might as well work, work, work while I'm stuck inside the house! Much more to come!

A Whirling Turban..hmmm not sure this can be put on Etsy! Yes, can you believe I'm parting with it! It was big in the bust when I got it and now it's even bigger since my boobs went on vacation..I wonder if they'll ever come back?? It's also now big in the waist and it's an elastic waist! I know boohoo, right!

That Suits Me Just Fine

I had a rather unpleasant phone call from one of my administrators at the school where I work today and without going into all the nasty little details about the phone conversations (yes more then one!) I will just say, I was left in rather a grumpy mood when all was said and done. So, what does MaryDeluxe do when she gets put into a grumpy mood over events she had no control over in the first place?? Don't let the pictures fool you and say vintage shop because that would be so wrong! I actually do two things.... I workout and I clean. So, today I exercised and I cleaned like a fiend and thought about all the things in my life that I do have control over and then I felt much better. Better enough to show you my lovely vintage finds from last week! All for $35! Not bad! I wasn't sure about the suit but bought it anyway because it was cheap enough. When I put it on at home, it fit perfect so she's a keeper. Every vintage gal needs at least one good vintage swim suit for summer pool parties and well, I've got several so why not one more? Now, how about those shoes??

Vintage Tiki

Did some vintage hunting last week at some local flea markets and antique shops and ran across this very cool tiki themed mirror box! As usual, I found it amongst a bunch of other junk...pulled it out, looked it over, and for $10 it was all mine! I think it's probably late 1940's and I just fell in love with the light and dark wood carvings of the tropical palm trees and villages. Thought it would look perfect hanging behind my cool late 40's tiki bar, that sadly still doesn't have a permanent place.
