Saturday Auction Find

Today was Saturday and for me Saturday always means auction day. I was torn today between going to the vintage clothing auction or checking out an auction that had this picture in it's item listing...

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you, that is a picture of Franciscan Starburst china. But that was all that was mentioned in the auction listing. Now, you must understand I have china pattern pieces out the wazoo and really don't need anymore that makes me waste my time trying to collect a full set. Some of you know what I mean. I'm trying to stick to buying only complete sets of things. Like most Mid Century lovers out there, I lust after this Franciscan china pattern so, I thought I would go take my chances and have a look see...ya just never know???

Well, you can all just hate me now and get it over with because today at auction I found and bought a 52 piece set of Franciscan Starburst china! WEEEEEEHEEEEEEEEE!!!

Franciscan Starburst.

I gave myself a budget of $100 bucks and got this set and all of these metal plant stands for around $90! All I wanted was that cool black metal magazine rack but had to buy the other 3 metal stands to get it...I hate when they do that!

Wire wire every where

I've been having some serious good auction luck lately?? The universe must have decided to be kind to me after my most recent broken heart incident. Perhaps that is how it works?? Broken heart = good auction luck! Something weird did happen to me at auction though, some man ran over to help me carry out the stands to my car...which was very nice of him...but then he said he really wanted to meet me and then slipped me his number. This freaked me out a lot because this is how I met the last fella who broke my heart. The guy seemed very nice so I took his little note thanked him and said it was nice to meet him. I am in no way, shape, or form ready to date again. Plus, the guy was a little older then me or maybe a lot older? Any way, I give him credit for seeing something he wanted and having the guts to try and get it even though he might fail....that's more then what the last guy I dated had!

  1. Yay for you! But sorry to hear about the breakup. :(

I have so much mismatched vintage dinnerware it's not even funny. Yet, I have complete sets in 3 different patterns of the fancy schmancy stuff that I never use, ever. That makes sense.

Keep your chin up, kid! xoxo

  2. Congrats on the beautiful china. I've had my eye on that pattern for a long time!

And about the fella, I say give it a chance. It is very rare that men step up like that and are sweet about it.

  5. Thanks Kim :)

Screen Siren.... Ummmm no to the fella, he's not my type and he's closer to my Dad's age then mine. So no, I refuse to play a game with someone when I know I have no interest in them. That's what the ex fella did to me and it's not nice.

    Lemon...go me!

23Skidoo... www.auctionzip.com .....now go have fun!

  7. You really do have some amazing luck! Those dishes are fab and I love the butter dish. I checked out auction zip and I dont think that is widely used in my area, or Im just not patient enough.

  10. I am seriously jealous of those dishes. I have a measly one piece in the same print. I need a full set like that though!

  11. Lolita...you better keep the one ya got he's a dream boat!

Jescoe...some areas don't use auction zip :(. You should try craigs list and the paper.

Phenlicfanatic... All the years of actions and estate sales and this is the first time I have ever seen this china pattern. A very big deal indeed! Older men help me a lot around these parts and he his not the first one who has hit on me...my poor heart is just not ready for it yet.

    Retro...go me!

Moni, that set would be expensive any where I think.

Cedar...I have never even seen one single piece of this china before at auction so this was a very special day for me!

  17. Dear Anon....Oh no!!! You have discovered my evil plan of converting all gay men straight through the use of my quirky, vintage goodness! :) Welp, looks like it's one down and 100 million to go!

*All us single gals who can't find a good man have been working on this plan for years!!! Success will be ours at last.
