The Great Chipmunk Incident of 2010

My cat is a beast. She is the stalker of tiny, innocent creatures in the back garden. She has been known to present me with many dead presents over the years. This time though, she's gone to far and has brought me a real live chipmunk for my very own. The chipmunk, whom I affectionately named "Pepe" from on top of the chair that I was screaming from, (actually, Pepe was screaming too) eloquently fled into the bottom of my kitchen cabinets. Well, actually under the cabinets! Within 15 min the beast had lost all interest in poor little Pepe but I sure haven't because Pepe is still under my dang kitchen cabinets! Me and Pepe might be having a show down sometime soon.

  1. Oh my goodness. I'd be wincing with glee to be in the proximity of such small divinity! Adorable!

  2. Oh my God! Felix has done near the same thing... I had a dinner party in the Screened in lounge at the Casablanca (before new screens) and while everyone was eating he jumped up through the screens onto the table and dropped a STILL KICKING rat onto the table... Hope Pepe evacuates soon!

  4. Aww, poor little Pepe! I know how that can be, though! I have 3 beasts of my own...baaadd kitties! If Pepe sets up permanent residence in your cabinets, you may be able to find someone in the yellow pages that can trap him without harming him and relocate him to a suitable apartment or something! Good luck to you and Pepe!

  5. What a great blog you have! I don´t have a cat, but a little dog and he is only a "hunter" if something runs litterally past his nose ... :)

  6. Have to love the presents that they bring back. I love my cat but it's one thing that I wish didn't happen that often.

The cats corralled him and then I caught him! Then I released him back into the wilds again! YAY! No chipmunk guts on my carpet!!!

  11. My cats have bringing a variety of "gifts" to me. Most of them are horribly dead, missing large chunks or sometimes the guts are artfully displayed on the front porch. Last week there was a dead gopher, a live lizard and some sort of disembodied head! Oh geez, I hope you weren't eating breakfast! Sorry if I put you off your cereal!
