Thrift Store Score

See, you still can find good things in thrift stores! Much thanks to my eagle eye Aunt Georgia, who saw this nifty little dining set at her local rescue mission and sent me an email about it! So, I being the Hey-wake freak that I am, woke up way early and drove over to stalk, eerrr I mean, patiently wait to be the first person in the store this morning....it was like my black Friday okay, don't judge...you would have been there too if you knew about it. Actually there were 8 other people waiting to get into the thrift store too, but they weren't shopping for Hey-wake. Apparently the Gettysburg Rescue Mission is the place to be on Saturday mornings at 9 am. Who knew??

The table is a little rough and needs to be refinished, but that's no big deal to me. The seats have been reupholstered but I checked and the original fabric is still there. I'm just not sure what type of shape it's in? I'll find out next weekend when I make the Sgt go pick it up with me. Okay, I guess you're all just dying to know what MaryDeluxe paid for this cute little dining set??? Well, don't hate me because I only paid $350.00 for it all. I could have never gotten it all for that price at an auction.....BAM......take that my arch-nemesis evil hey-wake dealer. Hahahaha, na-na na-na boo-boo stick your head in poo-poo! ;-p

P.S.
*Please send all your hate mail to the Sgt...he's now in charge of my complaint department.
Thanks,

  6. I know, it's okay that you all hate me a little bit right now...if I saw this post from one of you, I'd secretly be a bit green too!

And just so you all know, bad things happen to me all the time. I just don't like to blog about that because I really don't like to dwell on those things. Bad things happen and then good things happen...it's just the way the universe is set up. I personally think it works that way for everyone. I prefer to dwell on my good things and avoid the people who can only see the negative things in their lives. Those people just aren't my cup of tea!

    Yay for good things!!!!

  12. Sounds like Aunt Georgia will be getting an extra-special Christmas pressie this year! (Way to go - it's a wonderful find and you deserve it!) Proving that no even the most assiduous Hey-Wake dealers can be in all places.

  13. Mary EXACTLY!I try to keep my blog about exactly what its called "pretty little things" because there is enough ugly in the world and I don't want to dwell on it.There are great political blogs and blogs on serious matters but blogging for me is a break from the boo hoo's of life and I just want to focus on the good and thank you SO much for being the same way.If your haters can't see that and want to think this all materialistic than they can go you know what themselves!

  16. Wow- I can't believe someone would even want to part with that, much less give it away to a thrift store... Well, 'tis the season for giving (and receiving)! LOL

  20. That's FABULOUS! And I've been wanting to tell you my Hey Wake story...

I've wanted a Hey Wake buffet for YEARS. I was having a party 2 weeks ago, and lamenting the fact that I didn't have a buffet, as usual. The night before the party I had to go on an errand, and pulled into a parking spot in front of this junk store that always has ugly particle board furniture outside. But in front of my space lo and behold -- a Heywood Wakefield buffet. In champagne. AKA the buffet of my dreams.

I went up to the guy and asked how much it was, and he hemmed and hawed and said, "You know what this is, right?" I said yeah and he said, "I've gotta charge a lot... $200." SOLD!

AND they delivered it within half an hour, and I wept as I wiped it off. And I thought of you!
Now I need the dining set in champagne... sigh.

    Happy holidays!
