...for my jewelry box. It was a snowy/rainy day so not a lot of people showed up at the auction due to the weather. Only a handful of die hard auction junkies were there. I acquired more pieces then I thought I would be able to. Actually, Sgt bought them all for me! The only piece I really wanted was the fun fruity bracelet (which is not bakelite btw)...all the others were a bonus due to the low bidding prices. There were some wonderful bakelite pieces there that went for much more then I could afford, but still cheap compared to shop prices. I was beginning to feel a bit like Carmen Miranda by the time the auction was over!
We also stopped at a few antique centers that were having 50% off sales. I snagged this vintage cotton sun dress for $18! I'm looking forward to wearing this one around come Spring time!
Cheers!

Ooh, how lovely jewelry
ReplyDeleteWaow lovely!!! I love to wear those color colorfull bracelets, brooches, necklaces and earrings for sad winter days... I need them to keep a good mood like in this post: http://lostin1950.blogspot.com/2012/02/cherries-and-umbrella.html
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm going gaga over all the fruity goodness! And the print on the dress is really cute. I have never been to an auction in my life but you always make me think about them, although I don't even know if they have them anywhere around me. I should investigate, you come home with the most amazing stuff!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! Great buys! You are the auction queen! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness what fabulous jewellery! Just gorgeous! I'm a bit like Tasha I've actually only been to one auction before and came away with too much although I must try again, our problem is that we are not so far from London so I suspect even at Auction the prices are going to be too high :o(
ReplyDeleteFabulous finds!
ReplyDeleteSo fabulous! I'm in love with that strawberry bracelet *sigh*
ReplyDeleteMy only auction experience was at a charity art auction, and well, there were margaritas involved, and to make a long story short I came home with an enormous expensive abstract painting that my husband hates!
So I'm a little afraid of auctions!
Summer clothing and accessories are the best! My favorite time for cotton dresses. Good deal on the dress, can you believe how expensive they have gotten!?
ReplyDeleteThat jewelry is so cute! I feel like eating a smoothie now
ReplyDeleteOoooh lovely fruity jewelry.Really love the braclet and the bananas. That dress is cute.I have never been to an auction.Maybe one day.
ReplyDeleteWhat an AMAZING haul, I've only acquired a small collection of bakelite & vintage plastic jewelry over the pat 5 years, usually it's priced way out of my range. PLEASE let me know if you ever decide to part with the bananas (brooch?), I have a pair of '60s banana earrings that would match perfectly! ReplyDeleteWow - fantastic finds! That cherry brooch is gorgeous.

So lovely xx
ReplyDeleteThat fruit bracelet, oh wow it's so lovely, I'm positively green right now!
ReplyDeleteThe glass fruit bracelet is my favorite. It may be German -- I'm a vintage jewelry dealer and I've had pieces like that marked Western Germany (or just Germany).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pieces! I especially love the vintage glass fruit bracelet and have sold pieces like this made in Germany (or Western Germany).
ReplyDeleteThat jewelry is really lovely and it's fun too!!! I have to say one of the reason I started reading your blog, is because it's lovely and FUN!!! Thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteColour me green with envy ! Beautiful pieces, I'm so happy they went to you and not a dealer
ReplyDeleteYay! You got the bracelet! I love the cherries and banana brooches!
ReplyDeleteWowza! Now those are some fine articles of fruity finery! Yay for the poor auction attendance that let you acquire all these lovelies ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you managed to snag the beautiful fruit bracelet! Congratulations on your haul. x
