Ooh, great giveaway! I have too many vintage possessions that i love! Hmmm, probably my vintage 30s mink stole, it's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I think my most prized vintage possession is my Grandmothers treadle sewing machine. It's in perfect condition.
ReplyDeleteI have no real purpose for this... But it's so gorgeous and it will match my living room perfectly. That's reason enough, right?
ReplyDeleteMy favourite vintage possession is probably my Grandma's necklace. It's only 30 years old (although I guess that is pretty vintage these days) but it's very special as she gave it to me for my 21st birthday. It was originally given to her by my Grandad for their 20th wedding anniversary. So even though it doesn't have a lot of material value, it is very important to me.
Ps: I love love love your TV set!
I love this lamp! I posted about it on Cul-De-Sac Shack. I think that my favorite vintage possession is my 1950s Duncan Phyfe style drop leaf dining table and 2 chairs. It's an interesting style, with the chairs having a more modern look (no lyre back or flowers on the back). It was my first major vintage purchase. It's a small set, perfect for a small house!
ReplyDeleteMy vintage purses! If I have to pick one specifically, then probably the one my Grandma gave to me when I was little. She actually gave me a few of her old purses when I was little, I just wish I hadn't destroyed most of them
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 400. I've been reading your blog for a while and enjoy it very much and I just realized that I'm not a follower. My favorite vintage possession is my 50's hair dryer and it still works wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteI love that lamp!!! I just recently found your blog and think it's great. We are in the process of purchasing a 1956 ranch that has a definite Asian influence (and your lamp would look great in there!!). I am learning so much about these houses and can't wait to get in there and make it my home. My favorite vintage possession is a pink Westbend cake taker that is exactly like one my mother had when I was a kid. Every time I look at it I get warm fuzzy memories of my mom's Midnight Chocolate Cake with White Mountain Frosting. Yum.
ReplyDeletemy most favorite vintage possession...my husband!!! just kidding !! .....it's my vintage lucite purse that belonged to my Mom! my second favorite is an old family bible..goes back generations.
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous givaway..please add my name!!
been following you for awhile...love to visit and see all the great stuff you share!
WOWee, that is such an amazing giveaway item! Favourite vintage item...that's a toughie...probably my cameo necklace and matching ring set (and ALL my 1930s evening gowns). hehe!
ReplyDeletemy favorite vintage item is my costco step chair that i redid(with inspiration from you!)
ReplyDeletethe chair was my great grandmother's and was used throughout my childhood to paint rooms in my parents home. one day i came home and it was in the garbage and i almost had a heart attack!
I snatched it up, repainted it and recovered it. i kept the paint splatters in the step part for some memories :)

HOLY CRAP ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!
ReplyDelete*ahem*
I mean, my goodness, what a fab giveaway! :) Congrats on getting 400 followers, that is awesome! Oh boy, I will be crossing my eyes, fingers and toes on this one, that beauty would be so happy with me! :)
My favorite vintage possession...hmmm....I'd have to say that my *small* collection of 1950s dresses would be my favorite. They make me feel so feminine and happy. :D
Congrats again on the 400 followers and thanks for hosting such an awesome giveaway!
I blogged about this on Circle 7-2099! :D *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeletewonderful lamp! so Fun! By the way, so glad you scored the coveted lamp at the auction--it looks great!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite (or at least most interesting) vintage possession is a framed carpet depiction of JFK. Super interesting and a total conversation piece.
Hmmm...I think my most favorite vintage posession is my 1952 Spanish Hacienda house! It's got quirks and leaks and no dishwasher, definitely needs some work. But every time I turn the corner driving home from work, I take a look at it and it's so adorable in the midst of the brick Capes, I've got a house crush on it for sure!
ReplyDeleteMary D, as you know, I love your blog! Thanks for doing it and keep up the good work!
congrats on reaching 400,I'm actually shocked you don't have more followers already I think your blog is amazing! It leaves me green with envy(in a good way) over the things you find!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage possession is my Siamese cat television lamp that belonged to my grandmother.
Wow what a fantastic giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite vintage possession has to be my Mr T soap on a rope...i know it sounds bizarre. My husband and I found it (before we were husband and wife) at a consignment shop that we visited where I also bought the most amazing 40s cocktail dress for my store...i think i sold it for $20..i wish i would've known more about clothing back then..it was right after I first started selling vintage clothing. Its bright orange with an olive green rope. Its hilarious. I'll have to blog about it.
Congratulations on 400 followers! Your blog is one of my absolute favourites.
ReplyDeleteMy most treasured vintage possession is a photograph of my Nanna from the 1940s. It was taken when she was stationed with the British WAF during WWII and shows her in a homemade bikini, reclining on the grass by some chicken coops with her hair done up beautifully in big rolls. We never knew about the photo, but found it after she died in a North African leather album full of pictures of what were obviously her secret wartime boyfriends! Soldiers, sailors, airmen, and giggly girls she was friends with too... it was a side of her I'd never known about and felt extremely privileged to have discovered.
Throughout my life and as far back as my mother could remember, my Nanna was reserved, nervous about her body, and very much the dutiful housewife. Finding the wonderful pinup - style photograph allowed me to see her as a woman, not just a grandmother; beautiful, confident, enjoying life and the adventure of serving in the forces and being independent.
I have plenty of her jewellery and homewares, but it's the picture that means the most to me.
I'll be mentioning your giveaway in tomorrow's post on my blog http://kalandrajane.blogspot.com
xx
To choose a favorite vintage posession is one of the hardest decisions of my life!!! I have so many amazing things with different history to me and the people who owned them before me! It's a tossup between my Black gold and white lamp with matching fiberglass shade and my blond McM desk. I love love love my lamps but I think since my desk came from my Grandmother I think I love it the most. It moved from my grandma's house with me when I lived with my Grandma when my parents were splitting up, it came to my house to live in my bedroom and sewing room for years and now It is making the move an hour and a half to Boston with me to Suburband wonderland! And It's family is coming with me. Im getting a dresser or two from the same set to go in my room at Beck's. It means a lot to me and it just looks so good doin it!
ReplyDeleteI love the lamp youre giving away. I just picked up a vintage TV it would look great on ;] You're a sweetheart! Im going to go post about you on my blog right now!
is it cheating to say my favorite possession is my vintage house? It's the first house I have ever owned and its from 1941, and chuck full of details from that era. I have owned it for 3 months, and still just sit back and amaze at how lovely it all is.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, my vintage virgin mary collection is pretty high on the list <3
That lamp is amazing!
ReplyDeleteFavorite vintage item? That is really hard, but if I HAVE to chose only one it would be the 50s floral day dress that I took with me on my honeymoon. It fits really well and makes me look like a glam queen instantaneously.
Wow! Wonderful! I also mentioned your giveaway on my blog.
ReplyDeleteMy fav vintage thing(s) are the photos of my beautiful late Mom. She looked like Betty Page when she married my dad.
I cant believe this! I am posting it on my blog now!!!!! And as for my fav vintage possession? My set of Blue Heaven china because it was a wedding give to my folks.
ReplyDeleteoh lordie lordie Miss Mary that lamp is so wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage item is my beautiful teddy bear, Pancho, that my grandfather stood in line for in Cuba (communist) to buy for me before I was born - Pancho celebrates his 50th birthday along with me in two short weeks!
and of course I'll be sending you blog love on my bloggie - happy 400th follower!!
I think my coolest vintage item I own hands down would be my 1953 blonde kay upright i got from the lone star state Texas. But if you want a item of clothing i would say my late 1940's cable knit that's purple and yellow. GO LAkers!
ReplyDeleteBy the way do you know of a web site that has local auctions?
thanks
eddie
This lamp would match the one I have similar to this.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage thing would be my old vaudeville collection because there is so much history to it. I have some of Lana Tuners things which are my fav too. its really hard to pick.
My 1953 Blonde Kay Upright and my old columbia record player are my prized possession.
ReplyDeleterockinsavage@yahoo.com
My favorite possession is a vintage concrete garden squirrel. It belonged to my paternal grandmother when I was a child, she gave it to me in my 20's, I later passed it on to my best friend when she was fighting cancer to cheer her up because she loved it. She told me later it was the best gift she'd ever gotten, her children gave it back to me after she died, it sits on the window ledge above the kitchen sink reminding me of the two great ladies who owned it.
ReplyDeleteThe lamp is the coolest. My OTHER set of grandparents owned a country store in the fifties in Henderson, KY and sold these! They still had this exact one in their "television room" when I was a kid in the 60's and 70's, when they died I lived far away and didn't get any of their stuff, but I think one of my cousins has it now. I've never seen another one with the shade in this good shape.
Love the blog!
That is a beautiful lamp and I love the venitian shade!
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough one but I think if I HAD to choose it would be my shadowbox. It is very similar to yours. When I got it, it was in very poor shape, the thin gold veined mirror that framed it was broken and missing so I had to remove it all and the paint was all worn and nicotine stained so I repainted it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/frankensteinsbride1313/4272198856/in/set-72157622843590867/
That lamp would match my living room perfectly!
ReplyDeleteHhhmmmm..... my favorite vintage possesion.....thats a tuff one. My favorite vintage possesion is (at the moment) a repoduction 1860s china head doll made during the 30s/40s. She's so pretty! I love making clothes for her.
Samantha
victoriangurl77@hotmail.com
Man, if I won, I would literally die I think.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower, and my favorite vintage possession is probably either a pair of jade and silver 1920s earrings I found for 50 cents at a yard sale, or a 19th century daguerreotype I found recently. Thank you for such a generous giveaway. When I reach 50 I am giving away one of my favorite vintage books, but that pales in comparison to this lamp.
What an amazing giveaway! I think it's fair to say that we're all having trouble just picking ONE ha ha :]
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my most favorite vintage possession is all of my Grandma's jewelery. I got the majority of it when she passed, and there are some true gems floating about. Every time I wear something of hers, I try to imagine what she may have worn it with or where she even purchased it originally. Where has it been? Maybe it brushed the hand of Elvis, who knows! That's the mystery...
Your vintage finds are the cats pajamas! I would have to say that my most favorite and dear vintage possession is my grandmother's 1941 Bulova watch. It's very dear to me since I lost my grandmother when I was 11 and we were very close.
ReplyDeleteOh MaryD thats a great Lamp (I think it should go in my 'MaryDelux inspired livingroom) haha! My Favorite vintage possesion... would have to be... Gah! Im tempted to say "The Casblanca as a Whole" but im really love my 1953 RCA Television that my grandparents purchased JUST so they could see Ricky and Lucy have the baby! They Loved the show THAT much!
ReplyDeleteWowsers! 400 - what an Achievement!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage posession would have to be my 1958 ranch, which happens to be the same house I grew up in ;)
Oh, and I spread the good news over at http://atomic-living.blogspot.com/
YOWZER...Thats crazy givin up one of the kids to a complete stanger..O MOLLY MY..Ok my fave item is humm ..I love all my old goodies but my #1 item today must be a crusty old poboy sign I got that some guy ripped off an old diner on St Claude ave in NOLA .I just find it nifty.. O my name is adam s. and I love your bloggy.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I think you and I are kindred spirits, we love the same treasures. I was raised by my grandparents, so almost everything was vintage. But I think of all my vintage stuff my collection of flower pots are my favorite. My grandma grew gorgeous african violets and passed that talent onto me. I also love lamps have a few but there;s always room for more!
ReplyDeletehey there
ReplyDeletecrap what a hard question- I think every day i have a different fave thing! But one thing that make my heart jump with joy is a bakelite ring- no major hearfelt story- except for a dealer buddy who dug it out one day telling me he had something for me- it is deceptive as it is a changer- it looks like jett it is so black but hold it up to the light and it is the most sparkling jade green. It has awesome 20s floral carving and has exceptional knuckle duster qualities as its so big- good to have as a bus goddess too (just in case) I need to put some unweildy bus back in line!
Awesome lamp, but can't you give away that shadowbox instead? :-D
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing, sheesh, that's a tough one.................................................................
I guess it's my wrought iron sofa.
Congrats on the 400 followers achievement. And yes, I have shamelessly plugged the contest on my blog, thereby reducing my chances of winning this great lamp.
My most prized possession is my vanity. I love to look at it. My second would be my grandmas wedding set from my grandpa.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 400! I'm a follower, but I still don't have a blog. It's one of those 'I'll do it when I have time" things on the list...that keeps growing ; )
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite vintage possession would probably have to be my 1950s tiki bar with 6 bamboo chairs with green upholstery! I think that's how I found your blog, searching for vintage tiki bars.
Did you snag that lamp at that auction you blogged about recently? I'm seriously going to have to make a trip to PA to witness all of these amazing stores and auctions you have. But let me win the lottery first!
moniquitiki@aol.com
oh wow, that lamp is amazing! my favorite vintage possession is my record player. it's an old califone record player. the kind that has a suitcase like cover. it's lovely and was a beautiful present (along with my favorite record) from my boyfriend last summer. i couldn't part with it!

Gasp! Sigh! Swoon! Are you on crack, woman?! Giving away that lamp?! Kill me now, I love it so. Of course, that means please enter me in the contest. A gal can't have too many lamps. (Well, you know, usually.)
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say my favorite (non-clothing) vintage item would be my 50's PINK Duellette by Sylvania television! It'll be buried with me when I kick the bucket! (No, seriously.)
Congrats on the 400 followers !!!! My favorite vintage possession.............my house, cause I can fill it with all my other vintage possessions.........hehe..........I also have the perfect partner for that lamp, they must have been separated at birth !
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 400 followers!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage item would have to be my engagement ring
Wow, this is very cool! I like to think that I don't hold onto material things too much but right now it is my 1951 Hawthorne Deluxe bicycle, which it is finally warm enough to ride. It came from a barn and despite some surface rust, is in great shape and all original. It has turn signals, a horn, everything that a bike should have.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW! That lamp is so great! 400 followers, what a HUGE accomplishment! I will be posting your give-away over at Ihearteverythingblog.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAs for my favorite vintage belonging, it would have to be my chariot, a 1963 Dodge Dart Station wagon named Lucy aka, "The Diamond in the Rust". I drive her every day and she even has her own blog too! www.jumpstartmyheart.blogspot.com
Your blog is just great! Have a wonderful day!
OMG are you serious? I love that lamp- count me in. I think I have some chalkware wall plaques that will match it exactly! I'm also linking to you on Practice in Time.
ReplyDeleteWhoops- forgot to say that my favorite vintage item (does this count as just one thing?) would have to be the art deco bedroom suite I inherited from a relative- it's an inlaid mahogany bed, nightstand, vanity (with mirror & bench) & hiboy with bakelite handles.
ReplyDeleteI think mine would be my Merry Mushroom cookie jars.
ReplyDeleteI posted about your blog and give away on my blog:
http://supinternets.livejournal.com/144347.html
Oh my gosh!!! In love with that lamp! I think my favorite vintage possession would be my Great-Grandmother wedding rings. She got married in 1912, so they are almost 100 years old! I always think of her when I wear them.
ReplyDeleteCross posted on my blog!!
ReplyDeletemy favourite vintage possession has to be my great-grandmother's sewing machine. it's still the most reliable out of all my machines!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blog! I just discovered it from 1950's atomic ranch house blog.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage possession would probably be my 1950's Weiss bakelite rhinestone clamper bracelet. It's one of the first vintage items I acquired, and I just love it!
Loving that lamp! Like everyone said, it's hard to choose: I think mine might be the ceramic jester (i think he's a vase) that my late Great Aunt Hilda(born in the 1890s) had when i was little, and which I chose from her possessions to remember her by.
ReplyDeletelilith[dot]owl[at]gmail[dot]com
Blogged about the giveaway- http://tartdeco.blogspot.com/2010/05/welcome-to-deluxeville-400-follower.html
ReplyDeleteWow. What an amazing lamp!! My favourite vintage possession? Hmmm. Probably me 1940s burgundy playsuit with matching skirt - it's not an easy thing to find in Adelaide and it's a really versatile piece!
ReplyDelete-Andi x

ReplyDeleteI also did a house envy post on you :o)
what a gorgeous lamp, it would look awesome in my livingroom!! my favourite vintage possession would be my tea set, I think...
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous lamp and a very generous giveaway! It's really hard to decide on a favourite vintage possession. I think I'd have to say my vanity and dresser set which was first bought for my gramma by her parents, then was my mom's growing up and is now mine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give away! and congratulations on creating such an interesting blog, you've got us all hooked...
ReplyDeleteI'm not pitching for the lamp just wanted to post a comment saying keep it up gal!
Okay can't leave without upping the anti. Fav vintage possession is my car (blokes eh?) a 1950 Rocket 88 coupe...
My favorite would probably be my yellow/white cracked ice dinette because it's the first big piece I ever bought (I was a teenager!) and it is in use every single day, now by my daughter as well.
ReplyDeleteCant believe you are giving it away, I have posted your competition on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI have many favourite things, but my still current favourite is a burlesque costume from 1950s. Its a shimmer blue leotard with gold beaded detail and while crystals hanging down. Its the only vintage thing I own which I know a little of its history. The former owner was a child dancer, she was briefly a burlesque dancer, and I have two pictures of her wearing the outfit at hollywood hills photography studio. The costume is pictured on my blog.
I think my favorite vintage item is a 1930s floor lamp in our living room!
ReplyDeleteblogged!
http://themindofahaiku.blogspot.com/2010/05/deluxeville-giveaway.html
My fave lamp is a 1940's lamp that the base is a black bird.

http://www.nopatternrequired.com/?p=603
I blogged about your contest today (Thursday) at the end of my post.
Hmmm...my favorite vintage possession would have to be a beautiful framed poster done by the artists Joe and Gerry Simboli. It is a huge 60s psychedelic scale for the Zodiac sign, Libra. I am not a Libra. I am actually Taurus, but no one has to know, right...?
ReplyDeletecory
coryzatek@gmail.com
Oh wow! That lamp!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage piece would have to be my wedding dress. I searched for months to find something plus-sized in the vintage realm and when I did, it was like it had been waiting just for me...white with red roses and a slightly Bavarian air about it. :)
Such a sweet lamp! My favorite vintage possession is some lovely china teacups, which I collect. Love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteI love giveaways!
ReplyDeleteOooh my most favorite vintage possession... that's tough! In fact that's really, really tough haha! I hate to pick favorites among my children (shh don't let them hear), but if I haaad too, I suppose it would be tied between my early 60's danish turquoise armchair, that has a back so tall it looks like a cartoon (it's seriously like 5 ft!), and a huge atomic wall mirror/shadowbox I recently got.. there might be more, but that's what comes to mind now... I love it all though!
Look what the offer of a free vintage lamp will do! I'm creeping out of the woodwork at the merest chance of owning this lamp.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage possession? That would be the 1953 Saladmaster machine my father bought when I was an infant. He told my mother that it had a "lifetime" guarantee; I guess it did, as it has survived him and will probably survive me! It makes the best cole slaw!!
Thanks for the fun. Your blog is great!
Hey MaryD, I just posted about you Over at "Mick's" :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm...my favorite vintage finds. Well, I do love my arborite table that my mum found in the very back of an old barn sale for 5.00. Can't beat that one. I love anything that was my great grandma's as well...has a feeling of connectedness to it!
ReplyDeleteHey, I just came over from Mick's! You've got a wicked cool blog - and 400 followers? WOW! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteP.S. - I WANT that lamp!
Congratulations on your 400 followers!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite vintage possession is the fur stole that my boyfriend bought me for our first valentine's day together. It meant a lot as he never knew that much about vintage shopping or clothing, but really listened to and picked up on what I liked and went out on his own to find me something in line with my interests.
My vintage obsession started in high school when at a yard sale i found a 50's siamese cat tv lamp. I still have it and still love it.
ReplyDeleteI have you in my blog list over at
www.boobearblair.blogspot.com
Squirrel!!! I love my flamingos! All of them. My wife and i scour antique malls looking for anything flamingo!
ReplyDeleteMy most beloved and prized vintage item is my full length leopard coat from the 40's. I got it when I was 13 years old (I am 29 now) at a estate sale for $30....it has travelled everywhere with me and I love it to bits.
ReplyDeleteI am promoting you on my FB, because I have lots of pals that would love your blog <3
http://www.facebook.com/MissPattiDarling
I would also have a hard time choosing just one thing to count as my fav, but I am starting to think that my family pictures of my Mom, Dad, Grandma, Aunts and Uncles, Sis, etc..are. It really hit me recently when my Aunt passed. She had two huge bags of pictures I had never seen. It was like I got to experience some of my Dad's younger days, my Grandma and Grandpa that passed before I was born, and all of their holidays back then. Love the lamp, it would totally go in my Opium Den living room (that's a joke!) Asian inspired is my fav! Zootsuitmama
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vintage find is a 1950's viewmaster projector. I just love it!

My favorite vintage item has to be my matching atomic mirrored shadow boxes that I got for a steal. I love when i think about something and then poof! the next time I am out and about it is there waiting for me.
ReplyDeletei held out for YEARS just so i could find the perfect atomic lamp for my martinsville credenza. it was always the price was too high, the shade was missing, the colors didnt work, something. finally just last month, i was doing my usual internet treasure hunting, and there she was. gold wire base with seafoam splatters and sputnik details with a two tiered fiberglass shade. SWOON! i'm a beauty school student and there was no way i could afford that kinda splurge. i showed it to my boyfriend, closed the browser and tried not to think about so i wouldnt get bummed out. 2 weeks later i recieved a big box all the way from arkansas. my mega babe of a guy had bought it for me! i actually started crying. i'm a sissy. i set it up right away and my living room has never looked better.
