A Family Tradition

Family Picnics

Then: 1978

Me, My Mom and a table full of family!

Me eating potato salad....I look like a boy...I was 6!

Grandpa George & Sassy Aunt Dot eating corn on the cob! Aunt Dot was 67.

Now: 2010

My sassy 99 year old aunt dot & me!
Me & Sassy Aunt Dot talking.... at least I look like a girl this time!
I'm now 38 and aunt Dot is 99!
We've all been doing this a long time.

“If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people.”

  1. I'm so glad someone else looked like a little boy too! My Mom always gave me a "pixie" cut. But you were still really cute! You look similar to your Mom in this picture. Love family pix! Zootsuitmama

  2. Love the photos! My mom always cut my hair short from the age of 7 until I was 13 and able to care for it myself. I think that is why I will always wear my hair long.

  3. What a lovely picture of you and Aunt Dot! I see sassiness runs in the family :o)

  4. What a heartwarming blog post. Clearly you cherish your very special family. Love those shades!

  5. This is a very cute post
I have a Grandpa George too!
Well hmm maybe lots of people do. *lol*

  6. My mom always cut my hair in a pixie and my schoolmates always asked why I got a haircut that made me look like a boy!
Lovely picture of you and your AUntie :)

  7. Sassiness does run in my family....we rock it hard! :)

  8. IT was the 70's - many of us gals were mistaken for boys! Damned pixie haircuts!

LOVE that photo of you and sassy Aunt Dot. Total keeper!

  9. I have to say I recognize the story of looking like a boy as a kid and going 50s ladylike as a grown up ;)

And what a lovely picture of you and aunt Dot!
