Dear Anonymous

This is the stupid comment I got from you.......

You so obsessed with material posessions. And then you're always throwing a fit if you don't get what you want (evil Heywood Wakefield dealer posts?). Kind of sad.
The world isn't going to end because you couldn't afford to get this gay scooter. Be glad that you're alive and breathing.

Actually, I should be flattered because this is the first time anyone has told me I was materialistic! Usually I get thrifty bitch or coupon clipping cheapo! Also Anon, I could afford the scooter but another materialistic person bought it before me! Darn my luck. Oh that evil scooter collector! Ooopps there I go throwing a fit again. Who do I think I am anyway?? Oh I know, a gal who has a job, money in the bank, pays her taxes and lives within her means! Wow, you are so right, that is kind of a sad thing isn't it? I should try to be more like you...a jealous troll on the internet who leaves stupid anonymous, judgmental, snarky comments on other people's blogs! Wow, now that's not sad at all is it! To show you my thankfulness for being alive and breathing, I am sending you a very special MaryDeluxe middle finger greeting! Yay for freedom of expression and working middle fingers.... now please stop reading my blog and go fuck off!

xoxo

  1. Good for you! You would think people would have better things to do than to leave mean posts, unless they are jealous. Oh well, screw those idiots. Your blog is funny and fun, and if they don't get it that's their loss! Zootsuitmama

  3. You erased that post just as I was replying to it,ha ha!But yeah basically same thing I was saying to your "fan",who clearly reads your blog just to have something to gripe about.Sad that people feel like they have to throw in their high and mighty 2 cents where it's not wanted and be a coward about it.Also, its a VINTAGE BLOG!Its about material possessions, duh!Mary I love your blog and I'm sorry people like this exist. The internet sometimes feels like it needs an IQ requirement before certain twits use it.

  4. Well, I lost a follower so hopefully it was that person that left!! hahahaha ...out of the 290 posts I have on here...I have maybe 5 about the hey-wake dealer... but those are the posts that seem to annoy people the most..weird???

  5. Sadly that isn't the first comment of that kind that I have seen on fashion blogs - it seems that a few nasty people don't approve of us using our own hard earned money for leisure purposes. If they don't like it, I don't know why they even read our blogs! I just can't fathom what goes through their heads when they seek out blogs on topics that are obviously distasteful to them, and then decide that they should force their opinions on the rest of us. It's not like you're encouraging credit card debt or reckless spending anyway :/ argh. Good on you for standing up to trolls.

  7. I just want to say that you are AWESOME!! The pic you of you flipping the bird, is so rad. Screw the cowardly person who doesn't have the balls to post who they really are, did they forget that this is your blog and you can post whatever opinions you have. I hope when they die there is a "gay" scooter and evil Heywood Wakefield dealers involved.

  8. You know, I'm a stay at home mom who really has no extra money to blow on my fashionable possessions, but I do anyway! I guess I'm in the materialistic bitch club too- yay for us! I loathe anonymous posters. How sad it is that they can't even grow a pair and show us who they are when they are jerks? In the immortal words of my father in law, "if it weren't for foreskin, he'd have no skin at all." I agree with lila, you have a particularly gorgeous middle finger, my dear- And you show it off like a million dollar diamond! love you, love your blog!

  11. You rock! Hilarious retort. Why shouldn't a hard working person get the things they want? You can't take the money with you when you're gone so you might as well enjoy it while you're here. Kudos to you Mary!

  17. oh how people are so tough behind the wall of anonymity.Besides what is so materialistic about preserving the past and keeping it out the hands of evil dealers!!! I love reading about your life and adventures and auction finds, i just wish we had more cool stuff like that over here.

  19. I love being materialistic. It makes me feel all warm and cuddly inside. And apparently I'm being patriotic by spending my hardearned moolah on mostly made in the USA vintage stuff. Ya just can't please everyone girlfriend and you just keep on a-rockin!!

  20. I work as an urban HS teacher with some pretty tough kids. All day long I deal with the things they say to me. But at least they say it to my face...and I can address the issue as being inappropriate directly to them. I would have addressed the issue directly with Anon if they would have left me a name or sent me a private email...Anon is very clearly seeking attention because they have some issues with themselves and like to try to cause drama and make other people feel bad....It's called being a bully...

I will just say this....My blog is about my vintage collecting and lots of other things...I will write what ever I please, how ever I please, and about whom ever I please...It makes me happy... no matter what the Anons of the world think...I'm gonna just keep on doing what I'm doing.

After all Anon you can just turn off your materialistic computer and go read a book you borrowed from the library but something tells me you'll keep reading....hahaha yup you'll keep reading...heck, I bet your reading this right now just to see what kind of drama you might have created! No drama here but please see picture above!

  21. i recently got some very negative comments out of left field from someone that really surprised me. I just deleted them, un-followed their blog and moved on. some folks are not happy and want everyone else to be unhappy as well. Your happy life really pisses them off. Who needs 'em anyways?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Honestly you shouldn't waste the energy on people like this. That's probably what they wanted; a rise out of you. Who cares what people think!

  23. You're not materialistic if you want nice things! Hell I'm always wanting something. You are materialistic if you value those things above all else, and anyone that reads and appreciates you and your blog will know that you don't. (remembering how upset you were when you found that poor kitty in your garden) For that one arsehole there are plenty of others that adores MaryDeluxe!x

  27. What a t****r! Just ignore him, we all still love ya!
If you don't have anything nice to say about someone, then you shouldn't say anything at all. And why the hell is Anon reading your blog if they think you're a materialistic bitch?
Well done for standing up to them! xx

I love your posts about the evil dealer, I have a guy at my favorite goodwill who is my evil ebay reseller, he complains about buying perfect record players for 3 dollars then goes and sells them on ebay for 75. If we want to rant we should be able to rant if you dont like it dont read it whats that guys problem.

    love you and your blog!

  30. Hahahah! That was awesome. I think my favorite part was the picture. =)

  31. Why would they spend so much time trawling over all your old posts or following your blog if they have such a strong distaste for the things you write about?

The rest of us love seeing your vintage finds, and yours is one of my very favourite blogs for exactly the same reasons the Anonymous Troll dislikes it.

Also, if you're materialistic, then so must I be, because my blog is full of posts about myself and the vintage things I buy or want! I'm sure many of your followers could say the same.

I'm betting the commenter was the evil HeyWake dealer incognito ;) xxx

  33. Way to go Mary!!!

What an asshole! How rude, awful and cowardly! And saying you are materialistic is stupid, this is not a blog about the meaning of life, it's a decorating blog, duh!

Back when I was blogging I got a rude comment too, really bad, it still amazes me how mean people can be!

  34. HOW on earth did he *know* the gender of the scooter..? Mmmmmm!! empathy.

I know you're not bothered with what this person has spouted out of his backside, as sadly when you open your little doors to the world on the WWW, well, every so often some muck is going to get in :/ BUT...the DELUXE MAJESTERIAL FINGER has royally pointed the jerk back to his gutter :) Yay!!

  36. Whats wrong with being materialistic??? We all work hard and deserve to have the things we desire. If anything, our form of materialism is a good thing as it saves a butt load of crap from the dump. We are 'green' in a big way. We use the things that most people consider trash, while they go to Wal Mart and buy cheap items that won't last longer than a few months (if that) and then they will throw it away and buy more. I say 'hoorah' to our form of materialism!! Yay to you Mary for giving Anon the finger. Your materialistic ass is wayyyy more fabulous than theirs anyways!!!

  37. Well done Mary! I could go on and on but your lovely readers above have said it all.

  39. My boyfriend had one of these on his blog recently. He's brought out a book of his photos so Anonymous Wimp posted a really unpleasant comment about it. My boyfriend screens his comments so didn't publish it (why would you?!). So Anonymous Douchebag comments again "You're pathetic! Why didn't you post my comment? Don't like criticism, do you?"

Erm... it's screened comments. Why on earth would someone choose to publish a really unpleasant comment, full of swearing, on their blog entry which they posted to promote their book???

I commented that the book was very good. by this time we had statcounter running on the blog so we could see Anonymous Plonker going over to my blog, reading the posts where I'm talking about my forthcoming gastric band operation, and turned up again to comment on my boyfriend's blog, calling me a "fatso" and making that horrible remark about "rolling me in flour". Anon went on to call my boyfriend a "limp dick" and said "I hope this hasn't been printed by a real publisher - your photos are too ****." Nice. And in one fell swoop, demonstrated that they're steaming with jealousy.

The comment, unsurprisingly, remained unpublished, and because we had their IP, we set up a redirect so everytime they come onto my boyfriend's blog, they get sent to Ask Jeeves.

Despite this, from Statcounter we can still see this idiot visiting my boyfriend's blog several times a day. Why? None of their comments were published, ffs. I think they just wanted to see if they'd rattled his cage at all, and can't handle the fact that instead of taking them on, we got rid of them! Hahahahah....! ;)

anyway, nice blog. I've just surfed over from Fiona's.

  41. I could have sworn I commented on this back when I first saw it. Rosina Lee redirected me to it after I had my own cruel anonymous commenter (though mine was very long, rather personal and, unfortunately, well written). I deleted the comment and didn't bother replying but I'm glad that some people, like you, have the guts to do reply!
