Another Sneak Peak

IMG_5411

But this time it's a sneak peek of my wedding dress! Did you all know "The Original Bus Stop Goddess" is getting hitched in June??!! Yup, it's time for this ol' gal to retire from the bus stops.....forever and ever and ever! "Amen" "Hallelujah", sing the glory to the Goddess of the Bus Stop!

I found this amazing 50's bridesmaid dress along with it's matching shoes and veil on the Goodwill site. I love the Goodwill site and I'm sure many of you know about it too. I have found so many awesome things there over the years. What's even more awesome is your money goes to Goodwill, which is like getting the chance to shop online for vintage things guilt free!

But anyway, back to the dress. I wasn't planning on buying a new dress since the Sgt and I are just getting hitched "JP" style, but when I saw this dress while searching around the site, I fell in love with the peachy/coral/pinky color and had to have it. The last thing I wanted was a white wedding dress, because lets face it, after living in sin with a guy for 5 years, there sure ain't nothing virginal about me...sorry Mom...and I'm just not at all into weddings. I have never been one of those gals to sit around and day dream about what my wedding would be like when I got married. I am however the type of gal that sits around and day dreams about how the room would look with a new paint color! This dress is just perfect and exactly what I had in mind for my wedding day. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the bow hat with attached veil.

So, what do you think? What did you wear on your wedding day? Anyone care to share their wedding pictures on their blogs? I would love to see them!

xoxo,
MaryDeluxe

  1. I love that dress! I've never been married, and I don't even know if I want to be, but I definitely would want a dress that was unconventional some way or another

  2. Oh that is so great! I love the colour. White dresses are so unnecessary and outdated in my opinion :)

  3. Goodness, what an amazing set!! I love that it even has the matching shoes still. So much more fun and beautiful than a boring old white dress!
The kitty in the top picture appears to approve as well; haha, how cute!

  6. Ooohhh, what a LOVELY ensemble! And that color will look fabulous on you! Lots of good wishes to you both!!

I'm a big fan of non-traditional weddings (as in: do your wedding the way you want to) ;) I wore a 1940s black rayon crepe cocktail dress. Me and the mister eloped - were married by a JP at an inn in Vermont.

  8. I absolutely love it! My mom got married in '56 and wore a light blue dress similar in style but with a blue lace skirt overlay, Her sister was her bridesmaid and wore coral, like this dress. I think mom made both dresses.

You will be a stunning bride! Best wishes to you both!

  11. Ha ha oh my goodness I know what you mean, as a little girl I always dreamed about how I would decorate my first house and not may wedding! Your dress is beautiful by the way. Last night I came across a beautiful blog by a french girl who had the most breath taking and wonderful looking wedding you could ever imagine. She had her wedding reception in the forest and it is beyond adorable! My mister and I are getting married in September, and I did go for a white dress...I'm not really that into traditional weddings either but I found a cute vintage dress for a steal so I thought it's just meant to be white!
Check back to my blog in September if you want to have a look at our photos!

  29. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! What a great outfit. You'll look beautiful! Love the cat sneaking a peek, too.

My wedding dress will be a vintage day dress I got on Etsy. I love it and will be wearing it with vintage cowboy boots. I am also not one to have had fantasies about her "perfect" wedding since she was a girl. Pfffffft! Not for me. I will definitely share pics later this summer. :)

(And I had no idea that there was a Goodwill site!)

  33. Wow! I literally gasped when I saw your wedding outfit. You're going to look stunning!

My wedding dress was a vintage knee length dress that went swish! - white with red roses and a kind of Swiss (for lack of a better term) bodice. Red crinoline and shoes and a flower in my hair. Your wedding is going to be amazing and a true reflection of you - I just know it. Congratulations to you both!
