Step Three: Remove sod and start digging.

Step Four: Purchase garden items such as plants and weed preventing fabric. Go to a local quarry and get some stones...don't forget to drive slowly while at the quarry...Unload your truck with a shovel...repeat this process..a lot of times!

Step Five: Start finding big stones around your property to build the retaining wall. Find and recycle flagstones from a local abandoned property, that you found while hiking....make 10 trips to move flagstones!

Step Six: Apply your gals vintage lawn furniture, sit back, enjoy, and impress your future wife!

Now that's how ya build a flagstone patio the Sgt way!

  1. What a beautiful patio. Sounds very labor intensive but the finished product is well worth it. Now where is the picture with you and Sgt. sitting on the loungers with an umbrella topped drink in your hands?

  10. wait wait... 'closed'? No way Jose! I'm moving the old wood burning fire box out to a corner of the patio. I think that's called a 'Hillbilly Chimenaia'? Woo hoo! Warm apple cider on the patio with a fire!

  11. Exactly Sgt13, just because summer is over is no reason to forego enjoyment of the outside Shangri la. Light the tiki torches, plug in the outside lights, pop up the monster-sized umbrella, build a fire, and pour a ice cold George Hornsby Crisp Cider Ale! What a way to end the day!
