Damn, I love sweet potato fries!
Something you might not know about me is that I'm a Pescetarian....I eat no mammals or birds! I haven't had a burger in over 20 years! HA! But man, do I LOVE seafood! YUMMO ! I could never give up shrimp, crab, fish, and clams! I also try to avoid soy because of my thyroid ....this of course is nearly impossible to do as soy is in EVERYTHING! I feel extremely bad for people who have soy allergies. Recently, I've been having a love affair with sweet potatos....so much tastier then regular old potatos and much better for you. Tonight I had sweet potato fries , baked in my oven with garlic powder, salt and pepper. I like my fries crispy too!
Notice my cool new drinking glasses? Nope they're not vintage, I got them at the grocery store for $1 each! I thought they were fun!

ReplyDeleteI have a gluten allergy, seriously just as rough as soy if not harder!! :-( Your food looked delish!
ReplyDeleteI love sweet potatoes any way they're cooked but fries are definitely my favorite. Don't you love those high fiber buns? They are a staple around our house. Love those glasses, they do look very vintage.

ReplyDeleteI love sweet potatoes too! You know, you cvan make sweet potato pancakes and they are delish!! Here's a sinful fish dish for you. Who needs burgers when you can have this?! We had this on our honeymoon in St. Augustine, FL and had to re-create it when we came home:
ReplyDeleteSaffron Mussels
1 lb fresh mussels 1/2c diced green onions
1 pint cream 1 clove minced garlic
pinch saffron salt and pepper to taste
dash flour 2 tbspn butter
Soak mussels in cold water for 20 minutes. Scrub, de-beard and rinse. Steam mussels for 5-10 minutes until they're opened. Saute onion and garlic in a large skillet, then add mussels and lightly and carefully saute for about 2 minutes. (some mussels will slip out of the shell but thats ok!) Remove mussels from pan with a slotted spoon and place on a plate, temporarily. Add flour (and a bit of extra butter if needed) to the pan to make a roux. Stirring constantly, add cream till thickened into a sauce. Slde mussels back into the pan, spooning the cream sauce over the top. Sprinkle with a pinch of saffron and serve....amazing!!

Midcentury..yup I love the deli buns!
CherryBubbles...BINGO!! That's where I got mine! $1! Milo likes to knock over glasses and these I won't care if he destroys...he broke a few of my vintage ones and I could have killed him but oh well it happens!
Mmmm. They sound good! And I love the glasses.
