My new 3 piece Hey-wake Ashcraft set, Atomic clock, and 50's Oriental Lamp. The fabric on the cushions are not original but I still love the print. I checked and did find the original fabric still intact under the slip covers. The auctioneers did not know this was Heywood Wakefield ....they called it a bamboo set. That's why I think it's important to inform yourself about the things you are interested in collecting. Don't rely on someone else to tell you what something is or what they think it might be worth. People don't always know what they're talking about, even the so called professionals. I have also noticed that anything mid-century, atomic, 1950's is super hot at auctions. Expect to pay more for it now then you did a few years ago. It's selling like hotcakes and reselling even better!
You Lucky Lucky girl! SO help me im gonna get some HW pieces if it kills me! Awesome clock :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful set. We had a whole family room full when I was growing up, couch, chairs, end tables and coffee table. What I wouldn't give for that now. The clock is amazing too. And the lamp! Great score.
ReplyDeleteI love that atomic clock and those chairs look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even realize Heywood Wakefield made a set like that! Great finds! Zootsuitmama
ReplyDeleteUGH that clock!!! I need it I want to buy it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a 50s lamp similar to that one, except the bottom is like a chalkware white with the asian couple..
ReplyDeleteMy folks had the same bamboo set (plus a round glass top bamboo table) in the living room when they bought this house in the 50's. Ahhh but I just cannot warm up to the Asian theme Mom had in there!
ReplyDeleteAtomic for me. =)
UH-MAY-ZING! We're getting ready to furnish our new beach house (yay!!!) and that set is exactly the look we want. Except even if we managed to find something like it here it would be ridiculously expensive. You are one lucky gal, sister!
ReplyDeletelove it all!
ReplyDeleteThat's a whole lotta awesomeness in that photo! Great finds! You are so right about being well-informed - can't tell you how many times I've come across something truly fabulous listed under a very generic (or incorrect) name/description ;)
ReplyDeleteLove it all!! But ohhh that clock!!
ReplyDeleteAw, congratulations. I have always wanted an Ashcraft set. There's someone selling a complete set on Nashville Craigslist for $600, but I just can't afford it. Sad!

ZootSuit...Yup Hey-wake sure did. But it's not bamboo or rattan! It's actually bent ash wood made to look like rattan... Ashcraft usually sells for much less then the regular Hey-wake furniture and is a cheaper place to start when collecting hey-wake.
ReplyDeleteThat three piece set is quite a find! And I adore that clock!
ReplyDeleteI really like that clock.
ReplyDeletewow I love it all! You lucky thing!
ReplyDeleteWow, the table and chairs our gorgeous! Lucky girl!
