Blog Warning.....

Tonight, I received this email in my mailbox:

I am a 61 year old bus driver, married, 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren with a third on the way. I have no desire to get romantically involved with any of my passengers, not even the flirtatious ones. Let those gals go find some eligible driver who has no commitments and is as much on the prowl as the gals who chase him. I try to be sensitive towards my passengers although the streets don't always permit me to give a smooth ride even though I try to dodge some potholes, there are too many of them to avoid entirely. The street department tries it's best to keep up with them but there's only so much asphalt to go around.
My biggest problem is not the prowl gals but having too many stops along the route and not enough time to get passengers to the terminal on time for them to make connections. This is a city council problem for not providing enough frequent service so everyone doesn't have to pile on the same bus all the time. It's frustrating to all of us and management knows it. But there isn't anything we can do about it until someone wakes the council up. That may take another 5-6 years. By the time it's straightened out, I'll be retired.
So don't waste your time or mine. I'm glad you are your own woman. Just be careful not to make too many demands as I can't please everyone. That's impossible. Make too many demands and you are bound to make some enemies along the way. You might as well run for public office.

You're in Pennsylvania and I live in Iowa City. Good luck in finding the right driver.

Dear DeluxeVille Readers,

Please be advised that many times along the way in my blog, I will write a bit tongue-and-cheek. This is not always appropriate content for all my readers. Sometimes, in my quest for self happiness, I will write or share information that might offend a few people, many people, or maybe just bus drivers! So, I would just like to take a moment to apologize to ALL the bus drivers, hey-wake dealers, non-materialistic people, non-fur wearers, vintage elitists, non vintage elitists, my Mom, my Dad, various family members, ex-boyfriends (you know who you are), all the little people, and anybody else that might have experienced a "bad feeling" about anything I may have written in this here blog. This is my warning, if I've offended you in the past, I will continue to do my best to offend you in the future! Oh, and please girls, leave the poor bus drivers alone out there in Iowa! Their job sounds hard enough already without having to fight off bus stop goddesses with too many demands!

Thank you for your time!

The owner of this here joint,
Miss MaryDeluxe

  1. LOL! That's one of the reasons that I keep my blog email address pretty well hidden...keeps the crazies away! Don't worry Mary! We love you just the way you are! What would life be without a little sarcasm? Too bad there is no way to express sarcasm effectively when writing blog posts!

  2. Wait, did he think you were talking about busses in a literal way? I'm so confused.

  3. Bitter-in-Iowa City needs to call 1-800-THE-RAPY.
It seems as if life is a little too stressful and he is having a hard time discerning the difference between that which is meant for humor/entertainment and that which is of a strickly serious nature. Maybe a chill pill would help but remember to not operate heavy equipment or machinery after taking (i.e. put the bus in the garage).

  4. I think he was writing you metaphorically like you write about the bus stop goddess. Just saying he, is a commited man (bus driver) who has ladies, strangers and friends who approach him and he tries to deal with each in a courteous way. Sometimes they don't like what he has to say or how long he takes to say it (hence the long rides, and potholed streets). I think he is just saying as a man (bus driver) don't ask too much from other men (hope you find a good bus driver) and city council represents society as a whole. Perhaps I am reading your blog posting wrong, but I think you are reading his letter too literal. Maybe? Or maybe I am. :-D

  6. That's the tricky thing about his letter...I read it and LMAO at first taking it in a metaphorical way. Then I thought...wait...could this guy be serious! It's a great letter no matter which way you decide to take it! :)

  7. ...what on earth... I would think that it is pretty clear from the tone of your post that it wasn't actually aimed at bus drivers!

  8. Oh dear...I fear he misinterpreted the metaphorical aspect of your blog posts and is really in earnest about expressing how hard it is to be a LITERAL bus driver. LOL

  9. I love it. Best. Disclaimer. Ever.

Keep on doing what you're doing, girl.

  10. lol! I don't know if he was literal or not but in any rate, it's a great letter and is kinda funny! I thought maybe city council was his family and that the potholes were problems in his relationship. I think maybe he meant that once you do find a good man, treat him well, don't ask too much of him and understand that he's doing the best he can to make everyone happy. By saying that he doesn't have enough time, maybe he wishes he could have more time to give to each kid and his wife...whatever he meant by it, it was a funny, well written letter...keep up the bus stop goddess work..I LOVE it!

  11. We here in Iowa do not have a sense of humor we're aware of...
That being said ;) I'm still going to have to stick up for my town, and agree that he is answering your metaphor with another: don't be so hard on us fellas, perhaps?

  12. Moxie...now wait, one of my best friends is from Iowa and she has a great sense of humor! :) It was a great letter and it made me giggle.

    Brittany...I enjoyed his letter too.

Remember everyone...I am here for entertainment purposes only and sometimes I admit, I like to play the devils advocate!

  13. Wow. I laughed aloud at that one, but like some others have said...he could be replying metaphorically as well! Its tough to tell as he's such a polite and well written fella.

  14. WHAT?!

Oh geeze, crazy people and the internets are a dangerous combo.....time to kill it with fire.

NEVER apologize for who you are or what you say. You aren't forcing people to read your blog, that is their CHOICE. You are dong just fine and I myself say things that often make people go all up in arms but whatever....that's what makes me ME. People need to calm down and have a time out.

  15. I had to have a quick giggle at that. At first I thought he was being very literal, but now I'm not so sure. Either way, I caught my perfect bus with the best driver around!

    Cheers!

  16. How anyone ever gets all bent out of shape over what someone types about on their own personal blog, I will never understand. Don't let them deter you! I will keep reading on.
