Blue Mary

I've got the blues and on top of that I had a rotten day. I just can't begin to tell you how tired I am. Not just physically tired but emotionally and mentally too. I'm tired of my life, I'm tired of my job, I'm tired of winter, I'm tired of people taking and taking from me and never giving anything in return. I'm so tired of being me...the giver. When is it my turn? When do I get to have someone ask me how I'm doing without it being about something they are trying to get from me. Maybe that's just my lot in life...the girl who always gets screwed over...the girl who's good but never good enough...the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve and makes it so easy for everyone to abuse her.

So, I'm sad and grumpy and this post is meant just for me....because these are things that make me happy.

Silly Kitties

Alcohol

Vintage shoes

Cool mail boxes

My front garden in the summer time

Bare feet and hot rods

Home made Mac&Cheese

My back garden in the summer time

  2. Hey Mary,

    How are YOU doing? :)

Listen, I know we all have bad days and maybe this is just one of yours. I've only been reading your blog for a short time, and I must say, I think you are one pretty terrific, together gal. I'm conjuring an image of a Mary Tyler Moore Gone Mid Century Mod, tossing her vintage girl scout cap in the air. While we don't know each other, from reading Deluxeville, I get a definite sense that if there really is something in your life you aren't satisfied with, you will pull up you pedal pushers and work toward positive change.

BTW Thanks for all the info you post and most especially for sharing Fran and George with us!

  3. Oh honey, I know exactly how you feel. We all have those days. But I am proud you decided to post on things that make you happy, not dwell in the black hole that can be debilitating. And fyi-your garden is AMAZING! Summer will be here soon, and better days are ahead. Here is a big virtual *hug*!

    Thanks doll,

  5. Oh you poor thing! I'd recommend eating mac and cheese, then having a nice glass of something terribly alcoholic while hanging out with the kitty! :)

I hope things get better soon.

  6. I know I'm a new follower of your blog, but I just want to give you a big *HUG*! I hate winter as well. I am so ready for the spring to arrive! I'm a barefoot gal myself, and kitty cats can always make life better! I noticed you are a vintage etsy seller also, so I'm headed on my way to your shoppe! *lots of love* ~Lulu

  8. Aww Mary, Cheer Up!

I understand how your feeling! But think of it this way in a world of some REALLY shitty people, there has to be the choosen few of us to be the "Saddle show wearing, always smiling, ever caring, 'My GOD MICKEY ROONEY cant you see im Judy Garland and perfect for Andy Hardy', Debbie Reynolds hopeful wide eyed person" We all have bad days, even the smiling happy people have to frown sometime... I suggest you take favorite thing #2 and combine it with some Good music, and Maybe a few good Cary Grant/Rock Hudson Movies and just relax :)

So MaryDeluxe.... How Are you doing? Tell me all about it!

  9. Hello Mary,
Don't know you very well either but big hugs from Australia!!! Do you like chocolate as I know that if I eat some yummy chocolate, have a shower, climb into bed and watch a fab movie or read some trash I feel instantly better. Or a good hug from a pal!!

  10. Hi. I really REALLY feel for you. I'm not sure you realise just how gorgeous a person you actually are, I really mean that. It may be that this is a good time to start looking at things in your life that you have the power to change (like job, activities & interests). I've been laid up with swine flu for the past week and a half. It's actually given me time to think on somethings. (sometimes we need to take time out or be forced to sit back and review things in our life). Watching things like Haiti, Afghanistan, Iraq, and then looking at my life, has really made me realise, 'how lucky are you.' And it's made me look at other ways on how I can help others less fortunate (voluntary work, ie: art classes for autistic children or folk with mental health conditions), and by so doing it will help me. Is this making sense? (I'm full of flu guys...). Sending good thoughts your way wee one.

  11. As many other's have said, I know how you feel.
I hope your mood brightens soon.
It should not be you that is feeling bad, but those who take you for granted.
Take comfort in knowing you are a good person with a kind heart.

I also second the comments that suggest, a lovely cocktail and kitty snuggles for a cure to the blues.

  12. I've read your blog for a few months now, and I really appreciate all that you give to us strangers online. I'm sure that you do even more in real life. I often feel the same way, giving until it's exhausting, but I find that eventually it comes back to you when you least expect it. Just lay low and treat yourself well for now! Take yourself out for dinner and a movie, take long naps, hug the kitties, whatever it takes, and feel better soon <3

If you're a bath kinda gal, you ought to get yourself some Lush bath bombs and retreat for the day!

  17. Hi Mary Deluxe:

After following your blog and seeing this latest entry I had to de-lurk myself. I have gobs of admiration for you-GOBS! I'd love to have you as a friend (and know JUST the shops here in Cleveland, OH that you would enjoy poking around in)! Looking from the outside; I see your world getting set to bloom like your garden does in summer. Hang in. And count me as one more reader that is completely in your corner.

  21. Hey Grrrrl- we've never met in person, but just know that I always look forward to reading your blog- it's the first one I check. Even before my own! I always think, 'I wonder what MaryD has going on- she's always up to something interesting!'

And I know how you feel about the give, give, give, bit- boy do I!!!! Sometimes it's good to just stop and do something for yourself- like shopping! Anytime you want, I'll meet you in Adamstown!

  22. Now, MaryD, you just take two doses of each of those happy things and repeat as often as needed :) Here's to better days ahead!

  24. Kitties make everything better. My old man, 13 year old Clavin, sits next to me everyday when I'm doing my makeup. He swats at my makeup brushes and rubs his head against my hand when I'm doing my eyeliner. His consistency is so endearing!! I suggest a night of old movies, mac and cheese, and cuddling with the kitties. You'll feel better in no time!

  27. Hey girlie-no matter what anyone says, when you are feeling down, it doesn't matter that horrible things are going on elsewhere and you should just be grateful. It's happening to YOU. Right NOW, and you feel like crap. So, you acknowledged that, which is a great first step. If you didn't talk about it, that's when to worry. If it helps, since I have been reading your blog, and looking forward to your cool pictures, etc...you have made a difference in my outlook on a daily basis. I'm 55, and I can relate to being tired, tired, tired. I really think, though, that it's our world today and the crazy pace we all run at. Thank God you have your little retreat (your cute vintage house, cat, etc...) to come home to - it's gotta help. Good vibes are now being sent by me and all your followers. Take it easy, pamper yourself and this too shall pass. Zootsuitmama

  29. Hi, Mary!

I just wanted to say that, even though you are down, reading your blog always brightens my day and I think you are terrific. I am 46 and have been where you are now, so be hopeful that you will find love and happiness soon--I did! I've been with my high school sweetheart since '97, and we've had a wonderful time together, still are! He came back into my life just when things were looking bleakest, and when I had almost given up on men and people in general. So have faith, keep warm, drink good cocktails, eat chocolate, buy vintage shoes, and never never never never give up, girl!!! Thank you so much for being your fabulous self!
