OOOOOH! Nothin'like yellow to brighten up a dreary (& foggy, her in big Mo.) winter! Almost makes ya believe Spring may actually come someday! I am a relatively new reader/fan, but I do look back at older posts. I think my favorite so far was New Years, when you made the statement about "the new you!" All of us need that strength and optimism in out lives, and you gave it with humor, hope and vintage retro gusto!! Thanks, I am really enjoying looking at your house and fashion. Zootsuitmama
ReplyDeleteOh this is a tough one ! I love reading about your auction finds, you know I will make it out there one day with a huge U Haul.........hehe.......... and then there's seeing your home and fab fashions, not to forget the wild adventures ! but I guess it must be "Vintage Kitty" back in July when you rescued mama kitty and her kittens. I'm such a softie for a furry face and know I would have done the same thing.
ReplyDeletewhat lovely prizes!!! Happy Birthday to Deluxville! My favorite posts were regarding the kitties that you found (or found you!) and you took them in and found them homes. That spoke volumes about the wonderful heart you have. Good luck to us all! (i'd LOVE those glasses as I need new frames this year!!)
ReplyDeleteSadly im not vintage gal, so Im out... But as a Prop Master/set dresser and lover of 40's 50's MY GOD THOES GLASSES, HAT, AND COIN PURSE ARE TO DIE FOR!!!! That little pin is quite fetching too! Happy Birthday DeluxeVille.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Post (there are several) Either the Rattan Bar you bought, or the "Kitchmas" between you and I, there just somthign entrancing abotu Aluminum trees and your tree is the STUFF!
Woot Woot heres to another great year!
Oh *SWOON*! My fav (which I blogged about) was the Sweet Gal Decal post. I can't wait to get some of my own!
ReplyDeleteI would just like to buy the stuff. All your post are great, that why we follow. My favourite is one of your most recent posts about your Granfathers letters and pictures, I think it lovely that reminders of family past have survived, all I have to rely on is heresay.
ReplyDeleteOoh thats a toughie, so many to chose from, mostly I like the fab auction finds and all the wonderful houses you find to photograph and the adventures of Milo, but my favourite so far has to be the letters posts you recently did. However I look forward to many more fab posts from yourself and happy birthday to Deluxville x
ReplyDeleteherm, well i have only been reading for a few months even thought i JUST subscribed, but i would have to say that one of my favorite posts was the one about the ex's car. it made me smile, because i dated a gear head like that too! i know just how that would have stuck in his craw if i had done that, but c'mon, who wouldn't?! mine, was constantly working on his baby, so i couldn't drive it, but man-o-man i am envious of you lady. toolin' around in a hot rod. hot lady, hot car... it's fabulous all around. that's my vote.
ReplyDeleteLots of faves... but I think a high ranking one was where you busted the HeyWake Dealer who listed all those treasures on eBay. Heh.
ReplyDeleteHi!! My fav post from this last year was the one about Lustron homes! I spent HOURS on the internet afterwards researching them (I'm a little obsessive that way. hehe) and wishing I could import one here to Canada. But then again maybe it's a little cold here in the winter for a metal house...a well...pipe dreams!
ReplyDeleteHappy One Year Anniversary! Keep up the good work!
Lisa
Oooh Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your posts.
There are a few favourites, I really enjoyed the recent posts of the letters from your Grandfather to your Grandmother.
Also the post in June "bus stop goddess", I'm 26 and that post gives me optimism that I may one day feel differently about myself!
Keep up the great blogging work :)
Happy Birthday Deluxeville Blog!!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy all of your posts, but I think one of my favorites was the one where you showed the pic of the chair your mom had recovered in one of the fabrics you designed. How sweet!
Well .............. Do you have to make me decide. Can I pick all of them. I love your posts and they put a massive huge smile on my face every time I read them.
ReplyDeleteAny way Happy Birthday from Twinklez1985 in the UK
Betsyyyyyyyy!!!!! isn't this just a little loaded towards the ladies. As much as I love the handbag and specs, I really, REALLY couldn't stain by street cred by being seen with them!! :/
ReplyDeleteNeeeever mind, have a lovely birthday Deluxe Ville. When I read about the surname DEVINE in your family, I thought DEVINEVILLE was nice too. So old Hollywoodish.
Happy New year, Paddy xx
Happy Birthday DeluxVille!!! My favorite posts are when you have shown your closet/dressing room. I love what you have done with it, and must admit I am slightly envious!! I also really enjoyed the family letters you shared recently...how lovely!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great giveaway!!!!!!
Happy Birthday!!!!! This is an amazing giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI cannot pinpoint one particular post that is my favorite but I really enjoy when you post pictures of your furnishings.
Oh what a fabulous giveaway! I have to enter haha! I haven't been reading that long so I might be lost on older stories, but I did really like your post on 'rockabilies'. And the stalking of mid century homes!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! And WOW what a giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite post would have to be a recent one, due to the uncanny parallels to my own experiences in 2009... it is the "New Year New Me" post from January 1, 2010. Two failed romances and not the best year in many regards, but still I came out of it with a "when a door closes, another opens" attitude. The Helen Keller quote expressed that sentiment even better.
Another congratulations to us both, for surviving 2009 and learning to love ourselves better in the process! :)
Very tough to choose any one post as a favorite, I love the Great Auction deals you get and your photos of your furniture, lamps and your gorgeous yard. Oh and the house tours are amazing!!! But I'd say I love it best when you find something at auction and then clean it up and make it good as new, for example your patio side table and chairs. Rescuing things and fixing them up is one of my favorite things!
ReplyDeleteYour prize is AMAZING and I was just thinking yesterday how I so badly need some *to die for* glasses frames and those would be perfect!!!
Congratulations! I think I shall gracefully demur from entering the competition on account of as how I'm a bloke, but I had to leave you a comment saying congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your anniversary I enjoy reading your blog and looking at all your fabulous home decor!
ReplyDeleteXO~Syd
since I have been following you for a zillions years and I have tons of stuff as always I back out of your givaways ! Hoping that some cool kitten will win this !!! YAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! What a delightful giveaway! I really enjoyed your girl scout post, because I collect vintage girl scout uniforms/memorabilia as well.
ReplyDeletemy favorite post was the one with the pics of the lustron homes...makes me a little faint just thinking about them!
ReplyDeleteI love the "Letters from 1941" series. Oh, and the mid-century home stalking posts are great, too. Great giveaway!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm only a recent follower of your blog, and I have to say I enjoy it immensely! Happy Blog-birthday, and I hope there are many more to come!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing giveaway - my favorite posts so far have been the letters from your grandpa to your grandmother. I think it's really important to remind people that our parents and grandparents had lives before us - they were once young, fashionable (hence why I love mymotherthestyleicon), and in love. I can't wait to see more of them.
Oh what a great giveaway...I been searching for a great pair of vintage frames....
ReplyDeleteI love all the posts in which you take on the evil HeyWake dealer....but my favorite has to be "Vintage Kitty" where you rescue the mama kitty and her kittens. You are awesome. I am a total cat lover and love to find other hip chics who love whiskers as much as a do.
Always looking forward to the next post...
Happy birthday! What a wonderful giveaway. How to pick a favourite post? I very much enjoyed reading about your dressing room (I think that was a while ago now) as I have dreams of having my very own one day.
ReplyDelete-Andi x
Happy Birthday DeluxeVille!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite post was about the Lustron homes, we don't have anything like that in the UK and it was fascinating to find out about them! I also love all your posts about the beautiful things you pick up at auction, and battling the evil Heywake dealer! Plus, all the gorgeous pictures of your amazing home.
My favourite posts recently are your grandparents' letters and photos, it's wonderful to have a small insight into someone's past like that, especially at the start of a romance :)
Kally x
There have been many great posts on your blog but I had a big smile when I saw your photo from this post: http://welcometodeluxeville.blogspot.com/2009/07/picture-yourself-on-licoln-highway.html, it's just the level of sweet kitsch I love! *^v^*
ReplyDeleteMy favorite post would be "My Duck", posted on February 18, 2009. Happy birthday to your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteHow delightful and Happy Birthday Deluxeville!!! While there are many, one of my favorites happens to be a most recent one from Jan. 14 and "Hot Rod Days" The letter to your ex really made me smile and the video added with it just topped it!
ReplyDeleteHugs Deluxeville! We love you!
Lacy
My favorite post was the time you came back from the auction with ALL THAT fransiscan cookery! adorable! I drooled over those pictures for weeks.
ReplyDeleteLucy lady!
Happy bloggaversary!
I love all of your posts, but your posts when you find those amazing period houses are the very best for me, because I look at houses with similar eyes. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, love seeing your outfits!
my fav post of yours is the one about Lustron homes.... WHY? because it open a new little vintage world to me that I did not know about. And I spent DAYS researching. I love learning new things about old times. Thanks Doll!
ReplyDelete♫"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear DeluxeViillle...Happy Birthday toooo yoouuu"♫ :) And what a fabulous giveaway too!
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always swell, but if I have to choose a favorite, it's the Girl Scout hat post. I love that you found a unique vintage accessory that you wear proudly and, may I say, with style. Makes me want a Girl Scout hat too ;)
There's always an enthusiastic "FWHOAR!" from me whenever you post your real estate finds. All of them are tremendous! I live in a retro home typical to my part of the world so I absolutely understand the attraction. Outstanding work, Mary Deluxe!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite post was the huge wakefield sale post with all the lovely pictures from that sale you had the luck of going to! I have always envyed you for that post, such stunning pieces and I am so happy you were able to get a piece of that pie even though the evil wakefield dealer had to be there.
ReplyDelete♥Darla
Happy Belated Birthday dear! I'm excited to see what you have for us this year. You always have such wonderful blog entries.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my favorite so far has been " dude where's my car" simply because I know how it is to live here in Pa and that was deff the question I was asking myself that day too. So, count me in to win the giveaway doll!

Hmm, maybe one recent post about how you discovered that your neighbours could see everything that was going on inside your house - just because somthing quite similar happened to me recently...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the posts about the auctions you go to, it sounds like a lot of fun!
I really enjoyed your post on Anne Fogarty; ah, the sweetness of days gone by..
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy Birthday!
I really love your post about missing out on that HeyWake cane lounge setting. I felt your pain...I hate missing out on bargains-*especially* to people that don't even appreciate what they've just bought!! Just wanted to say that I look forward to your posts, and absolutely drool over the photos of your house...its dreamy! Lots of love from Australia xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh...that's hard. I always love it when you take us on house tours...and when you show us your house decor...and when you show us your vintage finds...and..and.. One that sticks out in my mind though is the one about your duck. I love stories like that.
ReplyDeletehah! I think its harder to be nice to other peoples kids ;)Belated Congrats!
